Big Brothers Big Sisters:
Annually Gannett gets a league of bowlers to join Big Brothers Big Sisters
in their Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser to help match local children with a
Big Brother or Big Sister.
Brightside Community
Clean up Campaign:
Our employees are committed to keeping our community beautiful! We have
partnered with Brightside an adopted a stretch of a mile that we are
responsible to clean four times annually.
Hazelwood Elementary
School:
In our efforts to continue to assist our local schools, we contacted
the Jefferson County Board of Education to inquire about partnering with a
neighborhood school. In 2002, we chose to partner with Hazelwood Elementary
School in the Hazelwood/Iroquois area.
We provide support by conducting Back to School Drives, Book Drives,
participating in the Every 1 Reads business initiative and providing
annual holiday support from toys to clothing to needy families.
Kling Center:
Gannett adopts several seniors from Kling
Center’s Homebound Program to support during the Christmas Holiday Season.
Items from their wish list as well as personal items we wish to donate to
each individual are collected, packaged, wrapped and personally delivered to
the homes of each senior on the list.

Jennings Scholarship Awards:
The Gannett Foundation sponsors one-time awards of $3,000 given annually in
the spring to children of full-time Gannett employees who are about to enter
college.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer:
Annually a team of walkers from Gannett Direct Marketing participates in
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Making Strides is a noncompetitive
walk to support the American Cancer Society.
Matching Gifts Program:
The Gannett Foundation matches employees' contributions to private schools,
colleges and universities, hospitals, and other charitable or non-profit
organizations up to a maximum of $10,000 per year.
Middle School
Connection:
Annually Gannett joins the Middle School Coalition and our community
in sending a positive message to our middle school youth! Gannett
volunteers conduct two 30-minute conferences with seventh-grade students.
Ronald
McDonald House Adopt-A-Meal program:
Every September employees will prepare, serve and enjoy a meal with the
families at Louisville’s Ronald McDonald House. Also, throughout the year
we save tabs from aluminum cans to donate during our visit.
Week of Caring:
Gannett joins Metro United Way in an effort to provide community assistance
to local organizations that are in need of volunteers and/or service. Our
volunteers have helped various organizations such as The Louisville Zoo's THE
WORLD’S LARGEST HALLOWEEN PARTY, Diaper Derby, and The Family Place to name
a few.
Family Scholar House:
We are proud to be a sponsor of the
Family Scholar House, formerly known as Project Women, is changing the
lives, families, and communities through education.
